Muscle Memory uses embroidery to trace movement through an unraveling pathway. The piece is done on stretched muslin and is coated in a thin layer of beeswax which gives the surface a texture that seems to glow and take on life. I am always interest in exploring how multiple sides of a work can be shown at once to create turbulent or non-linear narratives, and the beeswax gives the surface a transparency that allows me to do this. The pathway is intended to be generic, allowing the composition to spark memories as it resembles a place most people have been before.
